Visitor Visas

A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), commonly known as a visitor visa, is an official document issued by a Canadian visa office and placed in your passport. It confirms that you have met the requirements to enter Canada as a temporary resident, whether as a visitor, student, or worker.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issues TRVs to eligible applicants after assessing their travel purpose, financial stability, and admissibility requirements.

i. Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)

An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air. It is electronically linked to the traveler’s passport and is required before boarding a flight.

When arriving in Canada, a border services officer may request to see your passport and supporting documents, such as a U.S. Green Card if applicable.

Citizens of certain countries who are exempt from a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) requirement must obtain an eTA before travelling to Canada by air.
