Temporary Resident Permit (TRP)

A Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) allows individuals who are otherwise inadmissible to enter or stay in Canada if their need to enter the country is considered more important than the potential risk to Canadian society. The decision is made by an immigration officer or border services officer.

Even if the reason for inadmissibility is minor, applicants must clearly demonstrate that their visit is justified and necessary.

A TRP is commonly issued for individuals who are inadmissible due to medical or criminal reasons but still have a valid reason to travel or stay in Canada.

Applications can be submitted through a Canadian consulate. The processing time is generally around 3 to 6 months, and the application fee is approximately CAD 200 to 300.
